It was when the waters froze
and my eyes met her glaze,
something cold, something dark
gazed up at me,
and I knew
another ‘her’ had been set free.
I smiled,
the depth and the shine scared me,
but still, something pacific called me out
and the horizons swayed
to bring back a song of the past,
to bring back laughter,
and each exposure thus became
a new chapter.
Some refusals did reach out
to the long forgotten lies,
but that’s how we made new ties.
It goes back
to the time of ignorance
when every experience was a new trance,
a smile fueled the ride
and each fight
was a movement through the tide.
And in all,
we never gave up hope
to the future we had sought,
to the life we gave way to,
to us
that we promised to hold on to
forever.
I look up at her,
into her gaze,
some anger, hatred too,
a strangeness I admired
and the vibrant verses
to which I always laugh.
Cause it’s that that defines everything
starting from her cute little mood swings,
the way she rages in fire
or how her anonymity
never lets me tire.
I look into her eyes again
to realize how she has been,
in the war that preaches inside of her,
in the broth that we all fear.
But it’s in there where lies the hint
to all the mysteries
we’re scared to admit,
to a place from where we hide,
cause that’s how our love never faints,
cause that’s how that gaze becomes
another first.
